DDU Alumni Association which was established in August, 1993 has been taking up several initiatives for student welfare right since its foundation. One to those noble initiatives has been granting scholarships to the students every year. Right since 1993 the Alumni association had been awarding a scholarship amount of Rs. 5000 each to 20 students of the university. From the year 2000, the number of scholarships was increased from 20 to 30.
The procedure of awarding scholarship has been coherent and transparent. Students who wish to get the scholarship have to apply for it by getting a form available on DDU Alumni Association’s website. The form has to be duly filled with relevant information about the applicant’s academic performance and family income details. Based on these criteria, the students are shortlisted and awarded scholarships. Branch and Faculty are too a criteria for awarding scholarships so that the number of students receiving scholarship from various academic disciplined are balanced.
This year, the 30 scholarships were awards and their number distribution is as follows: Chemical – 4, Civil – 3, Computer Engg- 4, EC Engg- 4, IC Engg- 3, IT Engg – 2, Mechanical Engg – 1, Diploma Chemical Engg-2, Chemical Engg M.Tech -1, BCA – 2, MCA – 3, MBA -1.
Apart from these scholarships, Alumni Association also awards 4 scholarships each worth Rs. 5000 in collaboration with Jan Utkarsh Trust (supported by Mr. Deepak Babaria, Chemical Engg -1974 Batch). Also, Mr. Anil Manubhai Shah (Chemical Engg – 1974 Batch) supports Alumni Association to award 4 scholarships worth Rs. 5000 each to the students of Chemical Engineering.
