Outstanding Alumnus of Dharmsinh Desai University Joins American Institute of Chemical Engineers, USA as the Executive Director of Center of Chemical Process Safety
Shakeel Kadri, Outstanding Alumnus of Dharmsinh Desai University Joins American Institute of Chemical Engineers, USA as the Executive Director of Center of Chemical Process Safety (CCPS).
Shakeel Kadri graduated from the Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology [DDIT] in 1973, with a BE in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Kadri was in the inaugural class of the Chemical Engineering at DDIT. He completed all five years at DDIT with the highest honors and ranked first in order of merit in his batch throughout his five years of study there. Along with his scholastic achievements, Mr. Kadri was also very active in several extracurricular activities such as college cricket, athletics, and student organizations. During his 1968-1973 tenure at DDIT, Mr. Kadri served as a cricket captain, a cricket secretary, and president of the student union. Mr. Kadri believes that the early engineering education that DDIT provided and the contribution its faculty made played a big role in his personal and professional growth.
Soon after his graduation from DDIT, Mr. Kadri came to the USA in August 1973 for higher studies. He completed his MS in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 1975. Mr. Kadri has been with Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. since 1978 and currently he is Director of Global Process Safety & Risk Management. Mr. Kadri continued his education part time at LaSalle University in Philadelphia and earned his MBA in Finance in 1981. Mr. Kadri has been very active in a leadership role in various external industry activities; he has been broadly connected with his peers in the industry through various organizations such as American Institute of Chemical Engineers [AIChE], Center of Chemical Process Safety [CCPS], American Chemistry Council [ACC], American Fuels and Petrochemicals Association [AFPM], American Petroleum Institute [API], Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center [MKOPSC], International Chemical Council Association [ICCA], Compressed Gas Association [CGA], European Industrial Gas Association [EIGA] to name the few. DDU Alumni Association feel proud of his achievements.
Now that he is joining as Executive Director, CCPS, AIChE, DDU Alumni Association wishes him a great success in this new assignment.
